This past year has seen Kristy explore and expand both personally
and musically, as a result her song/writing and performance has
reached new heights. Ironically the expansion has come with striping
back her sound to were it all started, with a voice and a guitar.
She blurs boundaries and crosses over borders from youth festivals
to performing arts centers, Kristy oozes diversity. The sky has
opened up and in it she has reclaimed a love
for performing, a craving for adventure, an honesty you have to
hear to believe and a sound that is unmistakably her own.
Recorded by Emerson Bavington at Airlock Studios Kristy’s
new release STRANGER IN THE DIVIDE is 15 tracks of trademark Kristy
Apps passion, energy and playfulness exploring life both lyrically
and musically.
Kristy is based in Brisbane but consistently tours throughout
Australia, playing venues such as The Corner Hotel [melb], The
Zoo, The Healer [Bris], The Hopetoun [Sydney] to name a few.. Kristy
spread her wings abroad to embark on a mammoth tour of the U.S.A.,
taking her to New York, Atlanta, Nashville and everywhere in between.
Kristy played various festivals with artists including Caroline
Aiken and SONiA of Disappear Fear. A highlight was being invited
to play the Philadelphia entertainment Centre as part of a singer/songwriter
showcase.
Kristy has won many hearts on home soil too, rocking it out at
this years Pride Fair Day to over 3000 eager partiers as well as
performing at 2005 Ladyfest, West End Street Festival, 4zzz Market
Day, Frankston Guitar Festival and the Singing up the Women concert
at Woodford Folk Festival, with concert producer Kaylene Hunter
raving about her saying she had “The voice of this years
festival”( 2002). www.roulettetheband.com |
